The Great British Sewing Bee Hitting Our Screens Soon
‘The Great British Sewing Bee’ is an exciting new BBC TV series that will be hitting our screens on 2nd April, BBC 2 at 8pm. The series will follow 8 sewing fanatics as they face various challenges each week in a bid to be crowned ‘Britain’s Best Sewer’.
The competition aims to highlight the contestant’s passion, knowledge and skills as they tackle various challenges each week. `The Great British Bake Off` has inspired the nation over the last 3 years, and now we hope that `The Great British Sewing Bee` will inspire millions to embrace the art of sewing and crafting. We hope that this show demonstrates that you do not need to be a professional to try your hand at sewing, and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune… a little creativity and some basic skills will unlock a world of potential. Here at Korbond we continuously look for ways to encourage new sewers into taking their first steps no matter how small or large the project maybe.
The whole programme looks extremely interesting and fun to watch, and here at Korbond we are very excited. In particular we look forward to the `Make Do and Mend` episode, as we hope that this helps portray the fun of upcycling and revitalisation of clothing and furnishings, especially in this challenging economic climate… hopefully it will inspire the nation to get sewing!
The Great British Sewing Bee book, by Tessa Evelegh, to accompany the show will be published and will include 4 winning designs from the series. It will include a variety of patterns and step-by-step instructions. In addition to this, the book will also celebrate the heritage of sewing and provide general advice and tips for all skill levels.
We hope you are as excited as we are, and hope you will be inspired to dust off the sewing machine, or race to the shops for your sewing thread. If you need any guidance or advice, and are looking to start your first sewing basket or restock an old one, then contact Korbond and we can suggest some products for your projects.
